Regional Infrastructure Integration Fund (RIIF)

The RIIF aims to deepen integration through cross-border connectivity and regional physical infrastructure corridors and networks in LAC through technical assistance for the preparation of strategic integration projects.  Technical assistance provided may be in the form of pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, viability assessments, project design, documentation preparation, and social and environmental impact evaluations. The resources of the fund are destined to financing studies (up to $1.5 million ones) related to the technical, economic, financial, institutional and legal feasibility of the projects that belong to the IIRSA Initiatives and the Mesoamerica Project.

Within the framework of those activities, the Fund also allows the funding of social and environmental studies, public-private collaborations for specific projects as well as activities to strengthen institutions RIIF financed projects are to:

  1. improve and regionally harmonize regulatory and procedural frameworks;
  2. strengthen institutional capacities to implement and participate in cross-border and regional infrastructure initiatives, and
  3. increase resources committed for strategic infrastructure integration projects.
