The Public Accountability Mechanisms Initiative provides assessments of countries' in-law and in-practice efforts to enhance the transparency of public administration and the accountability of public officials. Several transparency and accountability mechanisms are studied:
- Financial Disclosure (income, assets and interests);
- Conflict of Interest Restrictions;
- Freedom of Information (openness, access, rights);
- Immunity Provisions.
The data generated by the PAM initiative is useful to governments interested in establishing or modifying their own public accountability systems, to researchers focused on issues of transparency and accountability, and to practitioners involved in governance projects.
