The third meeting of the G20 Infrastructure Working Group (IWG) was held in Sydney, Australia from the 4th to the 6th of June, with the GI Hub playing an active role.
The formal meetings took place on 5-6 June, preceded by a site visit, on 4 June, to the Barangaroo Development Authority and to Transport for New South Wales, followed by a reception hosted by the GI Hub.
On the 5th and 6th, presentations were given by member countries on each of the seven workstreams in the G20 Roadmap to Infrastructure as an Asset Class (available at https://www.g20.org/en/g20-argentina/work-streams/finance ), as follows:
- Contractual Standardization;
- Financial Standardization;
- Project Preparation;
- Bridging the Data Gap;
- Financial Engineering, Risk Allocation and Mitigation
- Regulatory Frameworks and Capital Markets: and
- Quality Infrastructure.
During these discussions, the GI Hub, represented by Mark Moseley and Katharina Surikow, intervened to highlight the work being done by the Hub on a number of these topics. At the end of the Sydney discussions, Japan indicated that the next meeting of the Infrastructure Working Group would take place in Tokyo on 14 September 2018.
